Woodford native Theodore William Cathers - who was previously found naked in the bedroom of two children - has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of sexually explicit materials of prepubescent and pubescent children.
In June 2023, the Virginia Beach Police Department was tipped off about the upload of child porn online by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading investigators to the 49-year-old Cathers.
Already a registered sex offender, prosecutors say that investigators in Virginia recovered approximately 2,900 CSAM files, including images of pre-pubescent children and depictions of bondage and sadomasochism.
They noted that "a large portion of the CSAM files were collage images of prepubescent and pubescent children, partially or completely nude, engaged in sexually explicit acts."
Previously, Cathers was convicted of two counts of taking indecent liberties with children under the age of 15 dating back to an incident in 2012 when he was found naked in the bedroom of a 7 and 11 year old child.
According to the older child, Cathers got into bed with her and a short time later got into the younger child's bed and removed all of his clothing.
He was convicted in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years in prison with 10 years suspended.
